On our hikes, the whole herd joins us on the trails around the farm to frolic and graze. Unleashed, they follow their guide across fields, and through the orchard and woods, climbing trees and leaning in for scratches along the way.

We begin community goat hikes in early summer when baby goats have all learned to walk and follow the herd! Baby goats will come along on the hikes from June-July until most leave to their new homes. A new fall schedule will run from September-October, then we'll take a short break until Holiday Hikes & Hugs and Private Winter Walks.

Winter: Bundle up! We recommend snow pants or long johns, winter boots, coats, mittens/gloves, and hats! Handwarmers/feetwarmers for those who run cold. If there is dangerous weather or rain, we may have to cancel or reschedule sessions.

Summer: We highly recommend long pants and closed toed shoes to prevent contact with poison ivy. Washing hands and arms well after the hike is also encouraged for this reason (hand wash station provided). Applying bug spray and sunscreen before arrival to the barn is recommended. Feel free to bring a water bottle to drink before and after the hike (or along the way if it's a hot day!).

Treats: Goats enjoy raisins and sunflower seeds and some fruits and veggies, if you'd like to bring a treat along to share. Otherwise, we will have goat grain available for feeding. Please do not bring more than one snack bag of treats per family for the goats and keep your offerings to fresh produce or seeds. No junk food please.

Swag and soap available for sale after the event! We take Venmo, PayPal, cash, check, or card (if Leah is hosting, otherwise no cards).

We welcome all ages to sign up. :) Young kids sometimes are a bit intimidated by the size of the mama goats, but all are welcome. We only ask that you are gentle with our animals. Infants/toddlers two and younger are free. Wagons and strollers may have difficulty traversing the uneven ground. Backpacks/carriers are recommended for young children. The trails are not paved and may not be traversable by wheelchair. The portajohn is also not wheelchair accessible, unfortunately.

You know best how your kid responds to large animals. Be aware that our mama goats are full-size Nubians and are bigger than the pygmy goats at the zoo, so young children especially may have some fear or uncertainty about walking amidst the full-size goats.

Children 2 and under do not require tickets.

There are twelve tickets available per session. If there is only ticket left, or not enough tickets left for your group, please consider another date (if you'd like a private session, feel free to buy up all the tickets and bring up to 12 hikers).
