our story
Dreamgoats was started by Leah Sienkowski in 2016 with three goats but no barn or land to her name. The herd was carted from overgrown backyards to friends' farms in the backseat of Leah's Honda Civic. Dreamgoats was an experiment in embodied living and an antidote to disconnection: from food, from nature, and from community.
The farm has long since grown from a personal dream into a group project situated on forty acres of lush orchard and prairie at Idlewild Farm.
Avery Lewis joined the team in 2025, a partner in herd management, volunteer coordination, and agritourism. Alongside thirty-some volunteer farmers, we care for the herd, make soap, and open the farm up to the community for goat cuddles, hikes, and classes. We’re a mismatched crew united by a hunger for regular and meaningful connection with each other, our animals, and with the land.
what we're up to
hikes & cuddles with the herd
Our agritourism enterprise follows the natural rhythms of the herd. We design our event schedule around breeding & kidding season, morning milking, and grazing hours, with sessions throughout the weekend and private openings during the week.
Baby goat cuddles, April-May: Experience the sweet and fuzzy delight of a newborn baby goat sleeping on your lap (or ricocheting off your lap, depending on the day). Sessions last one hour and the barn capacity is 6-8 people.
Goat hikes, June-October (+ Holiday Hikes, Dec-Jan): Join the whole herd as we hike the trails around the farm. We'll explore prairie, woods, and orchard, feeding the goats leaves and watching them frolic and graze. Each session begins with a 10-15 minute goat hang in the pen before we take off on a 30-40 minute hike. Path is mowed grass but can be uneven or overgrown in spots. Book your visit.
farmstead goat milk soap
Soapmaking is one of our favorite ways to bundle up the creative energy of the farm. We use organic oils and locally grown or foraged plants along with goat milk in each bar. We love this intimate connection between our herd and land and with you--that extends beyond your visit. Goat milk soap is helpful for dry or tender skin--especially folks with skin conditions or thos undergoing medical treatment.
You can shop our soap during farm events or online. If you don't want to miss a single scent, you can sign up for our Year of Soap and receive three bars of soap at the turn of each season. We also offer soapmaking classes on occasion. Shop soap.
goat world barterships
If you'd like to learn more about the daily rhythms of the farm, you can apply to join our team. Our volunteers are privy to the full spectrum of goatworld: from birth to breeding, hoof trimming to herding, milking to mucking, working 2-3 shifts per month in exchange for milk or soap. baby goat reservations
We breed our herd each fall and kid in the spring, allowing the kids to be raised by their dams for 12-16 weeks, before leaving for new farm homes late summer. We love to send our kids home to loving and prepared families--please join our list if you're interested in purchasing future kids! Reserve kids.
seasonal farm parties
Three times a year we open up the farm to mark the turning of the seasons. We honor the magic of deep spring at our May Festival, mark midsummer at our Upick Party, and for the fall equinox we celebrate apple season with our Apple Equinox event. Enjoy free live music under the apple trees, dinner from Gather Smyrna, desserts from Thistle Baking Co. and farm magic from Idlewild, Dreamgoats, and guests.
